Pizza, ice cream, pasta, and French fries are just a few of the delicious foods that many of us wish we could eat daily. The problem is, all of these foods are loaded with carbs, fats, and/or sugar. Don’t get me wrong, it’s okay to indulge and enjoy these foods on occasion. But what if I told you that there are options that you can fit into your diet so that you can eat them more options? Yup! Take a look at some of our healthy ways to eat some of the foods you love!
Almond Flour Pizza- This is actually delicious and it makes for a fun DIY pizza night! All you need is a box of almond flour and you can easily make the dough at home! From personal experience, it’s yummy! It can be a little messy as it’s not as doughy as, well, pizza dough but it makes for a healthy alternative! Load it with veggies to keep it even healthier!
Cauliflower Pizza- Ok I know people talk crap about this pizza, but have you actually tried it? It’s not half bad! Trader Joe’s sells some pre-made dough and all you have to do is as add whatever toppings you like! This is a delicious alternative to actual pizza and it comes with no guilt!
Portobello Mushroom Pizza- Ok, what? Hear me out. Mushrooms are great for you so why not? I’ve made margarita pizzas in mushrooms before and they were surprisingly delicious. If you’re not into gooey stuff, maybe don’t make them because you do have to carve out the insides to make these.
Ice Cream/Sweet Treats
Frozen Fruit- So you’ve heard of frozen yogurt and sorbet. This is basically the same but you can make it yourself and add ANY fruits you’d like. Just take 2 cups of fruit, ½ cup any milk, 2-4 tablespoons of stevia (this sweetens it!), and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Blend it up and then freeze it!
Ice Cream- So very simply, you can always go to the store and grab some Halo Top or Artic Zero! These are both delicious and healthy options to help cure your sweet tooth!
Peanut Butter Cups- We’ve said this one before, but wanted to make sure you didn’t forget it! Here’s the quick recipe for you- they are delicious!
Protein/Veggie Noodles- If you’re someone who still needs some ‘healthy’ carbs in your life- these are your best bet. There are a ton of pre-made noodles you can get that are loaded with protein and veggies. These almost always are still relatively high in carbs BUT are loaded with protein and nutrients your body needs as well. Balance is key!
Spaghetti Squash- This one takes some time to perfect. Different squash sizes cook for different times so when you make this you have to keep an eye on it. You don’t want your noodles too crunchy or too gooey. Set the oven on 400 and cook for about 35-40 minutes. Just cut the squash in half, carve it out, and add some olive oil and salt/pepper!
Zoodles- Zucchini noodles! Do I really need to say anything more?
We Want Fries!
I don’t really have many fries alternatives for you like we did with the noodles. What I do have is a few tips to make them at home and in a healthy way!
Sweet Potato Fries- These are honestly the best kind of fry. Don’t event try to argue this one. A good way to make them at home is to cut them thin, add some olive oil, and salt and pepper. Toss them in the oven and let them get crispy! I like to add the broil towards the end to make them even crisper. Try adding new seasonings like Cajun or buffalo dry rub to switch it up.
Use the Air Fryer- The key to making your fries at home. This gives your fries the crispiness that you love but keeps them completely healthy!
