Healthy Pumpkin Ideas

‘Tis the season for pumpkin everything! Luckily, there are a lot of great ways to enjoy pumpkin and still keep it healthy. This won’t be your normal Pumpkin Spice Latte with 400+ calories and 20 grams of sugar, thank goodness for you! Thanksgiving and fall is always filled with delicious pumpkin recipes so we wanted to find some delicious healthy ones you can enjoy all fall and winter!

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

Yum! While you could just get pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks and blend it up with some ice- we highly recommend this version instead. It even has protein so it’s even more beneficial!

What You Need:
-1 scoop Pescience Protein Powder (vanilla is the best!)
-5.5 oz of plain Greek yogurt
-1/2 cup of canned pumpkin
-1/2 of a banana
-1 teaspoon of pumpkin spice blend
-1 tablespoon of Walden Farms maple syrup
-1/2 cup of ice cubes

How to Make:
Combine all ingredients into a blender and secure the lid. Blend until all ingredients are broken down and combined. You can add more ice if needed.


Pumpkin Bread

We love pumpkin bread and want to make sure you heave a healthier option this fall. Try this out for your Thanksgiving weekend so all of your guests can enjoy!

What You Need:
-1/3 cup of melted coconut oil
-1/2 cup of Walden Farms maple syrup
-2 eggs
-1 cup of pumpkin puree
-1/4 cup of milk (you can use unsweetened almond milk)
-1 ½ teaspoons of pumpkin spice blend
-1 teaspoon of baking soda
-1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
-1/2 teaspoon of salt
-1 ¾ cups of whole wheat flour (or almond flour/cassava flour)
-Sprinkle of cinnamon (topping, if wanted)
Great Add-Ons: Walnuts, pecans, or dark chocolate chips added into the batter.

How to Make:
-First, preheat your over to 325 degrees and then grease a 9x5-inch loaf plan.
-Next, in a large bowl, add your coconut oil and maple syrup and whisk together and then add your eggs and combine.
-From here, add your pumpkin puree, milk of choice, pumpkin spice, baking soda, vanilla, and salt. Whisk if all together to combine. Slowly combine in your flour until it’s all combined. Add in any of our add-ons now as well.
-Finally, pour the batter into your greased pan and sprinkle with your cinnamon, if you want it. Bake for 55-60 minutes. To make sure it’s done, stick a toothpick into the center and check if it comes out clean.
